SEO glossary A to Z Resources Your team and your data Ignore pages, or keep them out of Google Ignore pages, or keep them out of Google Pages to ignore stops PageSoar counting a section; Out of Google checks that pages that must never appear in search really are hidden.
Two screens use the same kind of rule, a path, but do different jobs.
Pages to ignore# Use it for a section the SEO work is not about, such as a careers site another team owns. The screen starts with how many pages your rules hide, out of how many the agent knows.
Type a path, such as /careers/* for a section or /pricing/ for one page. Add an optional reason and press Stop counting these . Use Check a page to test whether an address is counted. Each rule shows how many pages it matches. Some pages are also set aside by the agent itself, such as a blog; those are not your rules and are listed under Bulk optimize. Because a rule changes every number your account reports, it needs the scope permission (Directors, Approvers and Admins).
Out of Google# Use it for pages people reach only after an action, such as an order confirmation. The agent already recognises pages behind your forms; add a rule for ones only you know.
A new rule only reports. Press Check them now to see whether the pages are hidden on your live site. Each rule says either flags them for you or agent hides them . Switch with Let the agent hide them or Ask me first . Taking a page out of Google is a decision about the live site, so only roles that publish technical changes can edit these rules. See Roles and approvals .
