Which kinds of fix move clicks most: the Impact ranking

The Impact ranking totals the search clicks before and after your measured changes, grouped by the kind of fix.

If you can only do one kind of fix this month, this screen tells you which has paid off before on your own site. It uses only changes that already have a measured result. Nothing is projected.

The columns#

  • Kind of fix: the field that was edited, such as a title or a description.
  • Measured: how many changes of that kind have a result.
  • Results: how many improved, stayed flat or got worse.
  • Clicks before and Clicks after: separate columns of raw search clicks, as the change cards print them.
  • Change in clicks: the difference. Per change: a separate column, that difference divided by the number measured.
  • Ranked: Yes, or the minimum needed when there are too few to rank.

Why some kinds are not ranked#

A kind needs at least three measured changes to be ranked, because two changes are an anecdote. Smaller kinds are still listed.

Two things to know#

  • A change that edited several things counts under each of them, and the screen tells you how many such counts there are.
  • Changes with no result yet are left out and the note under the table gives that number.

With nothing measured yet, the screen says Nothing measured yet and how many are still being measured. See how a change is measured.
